In some sense, I miss the warm summer mornings and afternoons when I could get out and get a good run in without having to worry about bundling up. It appears that in the northeast, winter is starting somewhat early. The high’s this week are expected to be in the 40’s, with possible snow flurries, cold wind, etc,etc .. not very motivating.

I was able to get a run in on the treadmill yesterday, and might do the same today (although I might just go out and say the heck with it and run outside). I did Pilates on Sunday and this morning, and i feel that its getting easier believe it or not. The only thing that really sucks in that are the ‘hundreds’. I realize how much they strengthen the core muscles and abs, but man, they just suck. Anyway, I’m gearing up to register for the spring marathons next week, so then we have an actual target to hit.

I did do a pretty strong speed workout on the treadmill though. I am now monitoring my heart-rate during treadmill runs and I got it up to 176 or so, which is good. I trained for the most part at like 165 or so, I think I got a lot of benefit out of it.

The trail race is this weekend, i’m not sure what to expect since i’ve never really done a trail race. I’m not looking to excel in it or anything, just to get out with other people running on a cool fall day. A little change of pace is in order i think.
