I was successful in my first semi-long run in the past two weeks … without pain. My intention was to do 6-7 miles, and see how we felt in determining if we should continue, and I felt good. I managed to get 10 miles in (on the treadmill of course). I pushed the speed a little too, increasing it as the workout went to prepare for more miles on my long run next week. My back did get stiff at the top like it has been doing for the past few days, i’m not sure what it is, but its not pain, just stiff. When I finish, and sit down and relax, it goes away, so its not an injury, its just some reaction to the running, so we’ll keep an eye on it.

So this week, we’ll mimic week one of training and prepare ourselves for what is ahead. I’m staying away from the Pilates and from the weightlifting for a bit yet to ensure my back has fully healed. Probably another week or two and we’ll add that in as well.

I sent my registration for the Bloomsburg YMCA run on New Years Eve night … I think there will be a large turnout because the Running out of Time race in Scranton is cancelled this year, so i’d like to think that many of those folks will come down for this race, it may be over 200+ people this year. I think last year it was like 150 people. its a decent, flat course for the most part, probably the worst part about it is that its dark out (which is actually pretty cool), and the weather. I know last year it had snowed new years eve day, and it was icy and cold that night. I guess i’m expecting the same thing this year … it’d be cool if there was a blizzard or something, eh?

Thats all for now, I plan on doing a recovery run tomorrow, probably 4-5 miles to keep the legs fresh. Onward and upward we go ……..
