I was able to get up to 35 minutes on the CC machine today, at a pretty intense pace (5.4), actually worked my cardio and broke a sweat. I was a little sore afterward, but I feel great now. The pain is not what it was even yesterday, so I know i’m healing. My new training plan states I should be able to get a 2-miler in maybe on Thursday, I think thats reachable at this point as I don’t want to push it.
I’m a little sad that I missed the Bloomsburg 5K last night, however I know I would’ve hurt myself if I tried to race it. Right now, I have the marathons on my mind, and I intend to get there. I’ve thought about the Ocean Drive marathon for MONTHS, even thinking about it last summer. I think my training plan, although aggressive, will get me there. I read on a few websites that its not about the number of miles you run per week, its about how much quality you get from those runs. I was reading another plan from Runners World which focuses on the concept of 2 hard days a week, basically one tough during the week and one long run on the weekend. It then states that the other workouts are up to me, just as long as I run at a normal pace (not killing myself). I’m not going to focus on miles so much anymore, I just want to be able to finish.
Its a new year, and new goals ahead. Its only 9 months until Steamtown again, and 10 months until the NYC marathon. Depending on how the new job fairs out, we might try to run that as well. Theres going to be some change here in life, namely that i’ll have to start working out at the YMCA on days I can’t get outside. I think its good though because it has a pool, a ton of machines, and I know my way around pretty good. It’ll cost me a few bucks, but will be for the best.
Onward we trek!
