I made my first attempt at truly running today, getting in 3 slow miles on the treadmill (at a 5.7 pace). Its the first formal running since Christmas Eve, and even an hour or so after the fact, i’m not feeling too bad. I took an easy day yesterday, just riding the bike and walking a bit, because my back was sore, not painful, just sore. I think the workout I did on Tuesday really stressed it, and even during running today, I could feel the imbalance between my left and right leg from the injury. My right leg definitely worked harder!
We’ll see how we feel later, and then see how we feel tomorrow. We’re on a scheduled day-off tomorrow anyway, so we’ll rest up and hopefully get outside for the weekend. Either way, we have to take to it easy so I don’t injure myself again. I’m considering backing off the Pfitz plan for training, and just going with Hal Higdon again. My concern is that the Pfitz plan is too aggressive, especially at this point coming off 2 straight injuries, and I think i’m just going to set myself up to fail if I try to keep going with it.
I blew off Dr. Marks appointment yesterday, I really feel the work he did on my back helped contribute to the back pain i’ve been having. I hadn’t had a problem with my back in YEARS, until he started cracking and moving me in weird positions. Its different than when Dr. Brad did things, he didn’t stress me so much. I even recall when he cracked my middle back the first time, it didn’t feel good …. I plan on just staying away for now, because I think that was really detrimental to me. Its nothing personal, and might just be a coincidence, but I went there for my Achilles Tendinitis, not to get my back fixed.
Anyway, we’ll see how things go, I hope I don’t have a relapse, and I hope to start getting some training miles in here fairly soon.
