Its been awhile since I posted, but don’t worry, everything is going good. I managed to get through a longer run this week, followed by a semi-long run without any issue. I had to modify my schedule a bit since I had to teach (i was afraid of injuring myself on a long run and then having to stand all day), so I did the long (14 miles) on Friday, followed by a 6-miler on Saturday. I took Thursday off instead of running the day before a long run, so I might make that up on Sunday, depending on how I feel.

The back has not been giving me any problems, and i’ve been keeping with the regimen of icing after workouts, taking it easy, and keeping witht heating pad. I was surprised I made the 14-miler without issue! My left hamstring is bothering me a little bit, not hurt, just sore. I just realized that I hadn’t done a long run (over 13 miles) since before I ran Steamtown, quite a feat I would say.

The plan is to run 5 on Tuesday and Thursday, with I think 8 on Wednesday, then push the long run to 16 next Saturday. We’ll see how it goes though, the key here is to take it easy. My times are not the best because i’m running a 10-minute mile, but the point as I have been stressing all along is that I just want to finish (not finish well). After next weekend, we’ll step back a bit before hitting the first 20 miler of the training season. It’ll be rough, but we’ll get it done.

I intend to keep positive and get through this. Lots of change is happening right now, so it’l be rough. I have to join a gym this week and start running there, and start to get used of running in the early morning again ………. oh well, we’ll be okay! I think theres 9 weeks left until Ocean Drive.
