I’m starting to get tired of running on the treadmill continually, i can’t wait for spring to get here! Anyway, I made an interesting observation as I did my 5-miler at the Y today. Since i’m an early bird, getting there at 5:30, I see the same people there everyday, KILLING THEMSELVES, and they are still heavy. How can you workout on a bike, and a treadmill, and with weights, day in and day out, and make NO improvement …. its excellent proof that you need to combine a good diet along with your exercise, or you will do no good. Its weird the things you observe when you’re bored on a treadmill.

Anyway, good workout today, and another good one expected tomorrow. I’ve kicked up the incline on the treadmill, along with the speed. I have less than 4 weeks to go to make up the training I missed, and I know I can do it. I’m feeling stronger and feeling like i’m getting my legs back. I have a 20+ miler scheduled this weekend and the weather is supposed to be just fine for it, actually in the 30’s instead of in the teens with a single digit wind-chill.

I intend to try getting another long one in the following weekend, although I have to teach that weekend, i’m not sure how i’ll accomplish it. I think I can find a way though … At that point I can taper slightly while I still keep the intensity up. I think that was one mistake I made during Steamtown training was I made the taper too easy. I cut back my intensity. Even though i’m in crappier shape this time, I have to make up for the lost weeks back over the holiday ..

Did you ever think I’d make it where I am now? I really feel it was that damn chiropractor that screwed up my back. I’ll NEVER go to that guy again, I knew what he was doing just didn’t feel good. Always go with your first hunch … oh well, off to bed so I can get up at 4:45 again to be at the gym! Gotta love training!
