So i’ve done the training (at least most of it despite injuries), prepared myself, rested, tapered and carbo-loaded. The family is getting ready now to travel with me down to Wildwood New Jersey for the race … we’re staying at the host hotel in Wildwood, so it should be a good stay. The best part is that the shuttle bus picks up and drops off right there, so there is no need for unnecessary travel (like last year).
I’m excited, but i’m nervous. I didn’t sleep great last night, woke up a lot. Its not the first marathon i’ve done, so i know what to expect, but that doesn’t make me feel better about it right now.
As I said the other day, if I think of all the struggles I went through with the training (job change, schedule change, injuries, etc), i’m fortunate to be where I am now. I intend to enjoy the experience and not care about what my finish time is in this. I’ve thought about running this for a LONG time, so I want to enjoy the experience. The worst part is that the weather really took a turn for the worst down that way. The morning low is expected to be around 40, with the high being around 48 (instead of 60, like it was) … cloudy with chance of showers … ack, this could be messy. Its one of those days where i’m not sure what to wear, so i’m taking everything with me (i know, i’ll overpack). but I would rather be prepared.
So this is the last post from home, i’m hoping to get a night before post in tonight before I goto sleep (last thoughts). We’ll see though since it will be a long day.
Off to Wildwood ….
