So i’m on the second non-running day after slightly injuring my back Wednesday morning while making a nature call. I’m not sure I mentioned in that post exactly how I got this slight injury, so here is the story (its funny, so hold on to your laughter if your at work) …. i’m sure that if you are a runner, you have had the issue with stomach ‘distress’ during your run, well, lets put it this way, I had tacos the night before and something wasn’t right down there. I was running up main street here in shavertown (The bypass) and felt the need, so I quickly crossed the road (looked over my shoulder, which is where I may have hurt myself), sprinted across and headed into the woods up a slight hill. Did my thing, then moved on .. as I got up and headed back down the hill, thats when I felt the back pain … What did I do? Who knows!
Regardless, my back feels better than yesterday, and yesterday felt better than the day before. I’m working on keeping it loose today by stretching and moving around. It actually feels better when I’m moving than it does when i’m sitting still. It doesn’t bother me to sleep (unless I turn a bad way) and we’ll test it out tomorrow. I’m thinking we can probably head out for a run tomorrow since its feeling considerably better, I just need to have escape plans in place for in case I feel pain, I think I can do that ..
So the story goes at work that I was supposed to work on 4/28-4/29 and put in an upgrade, and didn’t know whether I could make the lehigh valley half, well, that now moved A WEEK LATER, yep, the same weekend as the Pocono Marathon. I told my boss I had to teach that morning and would be available after 2pm … If there is one thing I hate, its people who can’t keep schedules. I was pissed that it moved like that … I felt the project was on schedule, but someone can’t make the date … ARGH!
I hope things continue to improve with my back today and overnight and that I can get back to lighter training tomorrow … I have 4 weeks until the marathon, 3 weeks until the half …
Late edit – I visited the doctor today (actually, the physicians assistant) about my ear, and the fact its been blocked since last week (read last weeks entry). Seems I still have a sinus infection, which is causing fluid to stay in my ear, keeping it blocked up. I was given Predisone (sp?), and zythromyician (sp?) to clear up the swelling, and the fluid … hope it works! (although running in cold weather tomorrow, won’t help)
