So I got out this morning for a 5 miler, only one left to go after this … then two days off, and a brief jog on Saturday .. I’m looking forward to catching up on my sleep in the next few days as I prep for the marathon on Sunday. I’ve managed to keep my weight under control for the most part, however the worst days are coming.

I’m at that point where I am getting nervous about the distance, I think about the fact that its been 2 1/2 weeks since my last 22 miler … gosh, thats a long time, will I be able to make the long one? I hope so. The weather is supposed to be delightful on Sunday, starting out at around 45 degrees and getting to around 70 by the afternoon, so it should be excellent running weather. I’m getting excited, but trying to keep it calm for a few more days ……. I wish the family was going with me because it does get lonely being away for so long, but I’ll be okay, they’ll be at home waiting for me to get back.

It feels like i’m at the end of another long journey though …… I plan on appearing for some local races in the next few weeks (smaller distances), and backing off some of the miles for about 2-3 weeks while I gear up for Steamtown/NYC marathon training in the first week of June … then another long summer of training. I think it will be easier this year though since i’ve done it twice already, I know what to expect. I don’t fear the long run anymore, and know what to expect, I guess you can say i’ve come along way in the past year.
