I promised an update today of my current status after the marathon. My legs are totally smoked at this point, my left leg (quad) is just burning, this is the one that bothered me at the end of the race yesterday (actually bothered me for about 4 miles at the end). I’m trying to stay stretched out and somewhat active so I don’t curl up into the fetal position with the soreness and I intend to get out and get a few miles in tomorrow morning to stay loose. There is no real ‘formal’ running this week, its just a week to catch up on rest, recover and plan for the next training experience. I only have 15 miles marked this week, although I know i’ll do more than that. I have yet to decide how i’ll prepare for Steamtown and my second marathon this fall, guess I have to give it some thought.
Even though it was a struggle yesterday at the pocono marathon, I am happy with the progress and recovery I made from my poor performance in March in the Ocean Drive marathon. It goes to show that you have to commit yourself, both physically and mentally for the struggle of the marathon. I believe for the Ocean Drive, I didn’t have my mind into it, therefore I thought that I could do it with little effort. I forgot about how hard it is, and how much you have to dig down deep for those goals when the going gets tough. I really thank the great people who came out and cheered us on yesterday, because they were the things that kept me going. I kept saying that I can’t walk or show pain to the crowd, I have to be strong and make it look good, I think I decent job at that.
Just found that Pocono Marathon results are posted here:

I intend on registering for the Fairfield half-marathon again this year in June, and will actually MAKE it this year unlike last year when I had to work. It should be hot by that time, and will leverage me nice as I prepare for the next marathon … yep, the Steamtown marathon and possibly NYC (if I get selected). I have to choose another marathon if I don’t get the NYC spot, so we’ll have to see.
Anyway, off to rest, got some stuff to catch up on!
that was extremely impressive.. you’ve done well.. I just received this sub 2 hour half marathon manifesto from a friend and thought I’d pass it on in case you’re interested.
