I enjoyed heading out to the Spring Trail Run held by the Wyoming Valley Striders today (even though its mothers’ day). I would have to day the course, I mean, the course was unbelievably difficult this time around. I guess the issue was that I was comparing it to the course I ran back in October, when its an ever-changing course … I couldn’t believe the hills in it this time, we ended up running more hills on the campground side of Francis Slocum park this time instead of so much time on the park side. It could be because there were more people having cookouts and stuff, I don’t know.
My results overall were pretty impressive despite the fact I actually walked up the last hill, although I think most others did as well. There was a guy i was running along with for a little bit going up the hill at the same time, and me walking, and him just jogging, we kind of kept the same pace, it was funny. Regardless, I did it in 44:50 and came in 12th place overall, so I think thats pretty good with the fact of the course itself being so hard.
I did some reading on the upcoming race this Saturday ‘the valley great 8’ … I heard the times and course is similar to that of the diamond run in berwick (as far as paces go), so thats means it’ll be challenging. Apparently it is out and back, going uphill for 4 and then downhill coming back for 4, so we’ll see. I think right now I need to rest because I am kind of sore and my legs are tired from those hills.
It was good to get back in the local race scene as well, its nice running those huge races out of town, but running in smaller races back home is even better, you appreciate it more.
Off to rest ……..
