boy the mornings are cold

I’ve been struggling this week with my morning runs due to the cool overnight temperatures. Yesterday it was really cold (not cool), coming in at around 35 degrees. It gave me flashbacks to the days in March/April when I was out in the freezing cold trying to get that run in. It really is more difficult to run in the colder weather, I do have to note that.

There is some question whether i’ll get to the Memorial Day race at 9am or not. It appears that some maintenance work (at work) thats starting at 6am may run until 8am or so at the earliest ……. if it runs later, I may miss the starting gun. Well, at least its not part of the triple crown this year, although I will be upset if I miss it, guess I’ll have to play it by ear.

I noted in my running journal (yes, I have a journal too) that i’m starting to feel more recovered from the Pocono marathon of a few weeks back. I was definitely feeling beaten the last 2 weeks during my runs, and was surprised that I made it through the races that I made it through. I didn’t realize how difficult that trail run was just a week after the marathon, I must be crazy!

I’m less than two weeks away from the start of formal training again, so i’m starting to get worked up for another session. I will miss doing weights as I noted in my last post, because I think that makes me feel good (upper-body-wise), but I just don’t have the time to do it. I have to sacrifice something for the sake of my own sanity, and this must be that sacrifice I guess.

Either way, the best running times are coming up. The summer-time. I rarely have a bad run when the weather is so nice. OH well, back to work!
