So I’m a little sad to think that I may miss my race on Monday morning due to work. There might be a possibility that I can get there if things go well, or I might chance it and disappear for the race and return immediately after it. I guess i’ll have to play it by ear. If I do miss it, i’ll lose my money, but after 4 straight weeks of races, it might be nice to take a break. It just figures that the one time I pre-register, thats the time I can’t make it. Its like a jinx of some sort, you know?
I’m enjoying my morning of not running, even though the weather is beautiful outside. its going to be nice all weekend, so i’m not totally bothered because we’ll make up the time (we actually have all summer to do it, so lets not get nuts over it). My lower left leg is sore again, kind of like at the end of training, I think it just needs a little rest. I’m so far doing pretty good with base training, averaging around 35 miles a week right now for the past 2 weeks and next week before starting training the first week of June. Thats up from what I base trained for last year, although I did go in pretty beat up (hamstring and overdoing it). I remember last year I was so excited about training that I went in full throttle (not knowing), and I think that tired me out in the end. I know that the full training is enough to fill that need, I just have to be patient.
I can say that I’m feeling pretty good though, and my weight is down is well, which is a good thing. I’m trying not to get psycho over my weight, but I know the more I keep it off (and drop it), the better my performance is. At last weigh-in, i’m at around 194, which is the lowest i’ve been in awhile (but the scary part is that my BMI still says i’m overweight, thats crap!) I’ve just about cut out red meat from my diet, it doesn’t always agree with me, although I did have it for the first time in 2 weeks last night, it was okay, but doesn’t seem to do it for me anymore.
I’m looking forward to a long run tomorrow, shorter on Sunday, and possibly a race (or another short one) on Monday …… we’ll see.
