I know that i’m falling into a trap making a mistake here by not taking it easier in the pre-training days. I guess its just that I feel good, and feel motivated to run, but I’m worried that 4-5 weeks from now, i’ll be really beat up by not taking the time to rest now. I don’t really have a major jump in miles for quite a few weeks yet, but i’m still worried. Maybe anyone reading out there understands that when the weather finally breaks like it has, you get motivated to run more. I remember the painful, cold days in February trying to get these runs in, and not that its so nice, I want to take advantage of it.
Oh well. I did get 8 miles in today, and got out for a short run yesterday just to stretch the legs. I’m finding that just doing a short workout helps keep the soreness down and the blood flowing after a hard effort. This weekend marks the last ‘nontraining’ weekend until October, so its time to get serious.
I have the second leg of the triple crown this weekend, the anthracite run down in west pittston. Its actually follows a route close to when I do my 20-22 milers down that way, so the terrain will be familiar. It’ll be a new distance for me though (4 miles), so a new chance to set a different PR … then we’ll do our long run Sunday, and gear up for training on Monday. I’m debating whether to run the Lehman run on June 9th since I will have to fly out of there to get my son to an appointment shortly thereafter. I guess alot will depend on how I feel, so we’ll have to play it by ear.
I’m anxious to find out whether I was selected for the NYC marathon or not, i’m not sure exactly when the lottery is, or how they contact you, but I guess i’ll find out soon enough. Its supposed to be around June 1st or so.
I think I might try to wind down tomorrow with a little shorter run, but I know I won’t stick to that … 🙂
