surprised I wasn’t sore

I was expecting to be a little more sore yesterday when I woke up and headed out on my 3 mile recovery run (the norm now for Monday mornings). I actually didn’t feel too bad after setting a new PR for a half on Sunday, and felt even better this morning. Most of the pains had subsided and I smoked through a decent run, however I did manage to turn the wrong way while adjusting the stilleto and cause my mid back to tweak a little. Its the same pain as a few weeks ago when I was “doing my business” in the woods and isn’t disabling me at all, but its just an annoying ache I guess. I know it took a few days to recover from it last time, so I expect the same here this time. I did it on like mile 2 somewhere, so I know I can get through a run with it.

Otherwise, my lower back is feeling better, and the legs, although tired, are doing good. I’m up for 3 more hard weeks before another stepback week. I decided to modify the training a little to make my vacation weekend in July a little easier. I moved a 20 miler that I’d have to do on Friday morning down to a 14 miler .. just to make it easier because we like to leave early on that Friday, I can get that in around 5am, and be back and on the road by 8 or 9am like planned.

I’m trying to decide whether to do the Philadelphia distance run (half marathon) on September 16. I have that weekend free, and I think it would be a good primer for Steamtown which is exactly 3 weeks off .. the hard part is whether or not I can complete a long run the day before or not. I just have to decide I guess.

I have to head to the doctor again today because my left ear is blocked again. I woke up with it ringing this morning, and I have been having problems during my runs with not being able to hear out of that ear, its definitely blocked. I really hope its only wax, but it might be another ear infection. That will be the 3rd ear infection in the past year, it might be time to get it really checked out by an ear doctor, i dunno.

We have the longer run planned tomorrow morning at 9 miles, I’ve been managing to get to bed early (when its light out) averaging around 8:30pm bedtime. I find that I have to do this to maintain myself during the day, otherwise I get too tired. I’m still waking up earlier than I should though, so thats not helping. At some point my body will catch up with this ….
