making it through the week

I’m down to my last day tomorrow of running of this cycle before the long weekend again.. I am feeling pretty good, and still sticking to the diet as planned, its actually gotten easier to some degree. I do feel myself being more hungry now after my runs … you know the issue when you increase miles the way I have .. the body just craves food. I’ve learned to deal with it, and by giving myself smaller portions of healthy food when it craves me (within my calorie count), it goes away. I’m getting ready to splurge a bit this weekend by getting a hoagie (a chicken wing hoagie from J&J, god I love them).

Anyway, the only issue i’m nursing right now (if you can call it that) is that my right foot has become sore … i think it might be the fact that I’m switching around shoes, using older shoes (which are somewhat worn out) … so I think its time to go out and get new shoes. The foot is just sore in some regard, no real pain (like a stress fracture or anything), so I don’t think its anything to worry about.

I am getting tired again, and I have been having trouble sleeping … most of that I think is due to absolutely hating my job. I despise this place. Anyway, thats for another time on my other blog… Its been 3 days in a row of getting up early (although I’ve been going to bed like 8:15-8:45 each night), its still not enough sleep. One more day of getting up early and i’m through it for another week, I can’t wait. Thats probably the worst part of this whole training thing and this god-forsaken place that I work ..

I’m considering what my 20 mile course should be for the weekend .. I certainly want to stay away from anything that will kick my ass like it did last week. That course I ran last weekend was just too difficult for a long run, and really doesn’t represent what I’ll be running in Steamtown, or in the Harrisburg marathon, so there really is no sense in killing myself like that. We’ll probably head down to Kingston instead and do the 20-miler through the west-side.

If I decide to try and run a spring marathon again next week (whatever one I choose), I may try to do the FIRST training program with 3 days a week. I find its very difficult in the winter-time to train, especially get quality training in, so that might be my path … i’m not sure of my future in just running after the fall marathons, I think i’m getting bored with it. I wonder what the next step is … I was considering scaling it back and going to do trail runs instead … I read about these races being held by Pretzel City sports that are trail runs and really sound like a lot of fun. I think I need to find the fun in running after all this competing …. oh well, thats an issue for another day, i’m in the middle of my training now, so its too early to talk about next year…
