Its hard to believe its the eve of the first 20 miler of this training season … I have a bunch of them scheduled, and after doing 19 miles two out of the last 3 weeks, I don’t see 20 being an issue, which is really the goal here. I don’t intend to do a crazy course like I had done last week, i’ll keep it simple to start by going down and doing the west side where the hills are at a minimum. Once I’m more comfortable with the distance again (which I am getting used to), i’ll make the jump and maybe do one of them back home.
It was nice to take the day off today and sleep in a little bit … I had a weird feeling though because I really get attached to morning peacefulness and fresh air during sunrise … its weird. I had to urge to go out and do some mileage, but had no time (it wouldn’t have been smart anyway.)
I’m beating around whether to take a step-back week next week or not, it kind of depends … I only worked my training out to about this far back when I laid it out, so I have to make the decision, but remember to make it work for the entire rest of the training schedule. I probably should’ve taken the time in the past to do it right .. oh well.
Otherwise i’m feeling pretty good, no major pain anywhere .. I feel my weight is down, my legs feel strong and i’m excited for my 20-miler tomorrow. I’m hoping to stay better hydrated and cooler by heading out as early as I can (i’m shooting for like 7am) … I think some of the issue is that i’m just not used to the heat like I was last year, but I should enjoy it while I can I guess, it will be the fall/winter time before I know it.
Anyway, off to rest and to gear up for the long run, I hope to give an update during the weekend …….. i’m awaiting the first silly emails from Steamtown any day now ..
