So I mentioned the other day about how rough this week of training has been, and its slowly continuing on. I had to work on Wednesday night, which meant I never really made up my sleep from being up so early on Wednesday morning for my 12 miler. The sleep on Wed. night was choppy, totalling around 5 hours … then worst than that, I feel sinus issues coming on (maybe the weather, or the fact I was tired). Even with the 5 hours of sleep and lack of sleep Tuesday night, I still got out for my 6 miler on Thursday morning… I ran it real slow (like 56 minutes), but still got it in, it really sucked.
So right now, i’m struggling with being tired, and with sinus issues .. hoping that its not a sinus infection. I’m taking all the normal precautions, tons of fluids, nose drops, ear drops, taking my allegra and flonase .. I feel better today than I did yesterday, so thats a good thing. We’ll see how this plays out.
I’ve also noticed on this rest day that my hips are really sore (especially my left hip) … i’m concerned that the max miles i’ll be doing this week into next week are going to make them worse, we’ll have to see. If I can make it through the next 9 days, i’ll be thrilled as I head into a stepback week. I just hope I don’t feel like crap tomorrow for the 21 miler. Its going to be long and rough either way because the heat/humidity will be back … but I will plan accordingly to ensure I don’t dehydrate. I hope to get out early as well .. maybe not quite as early as last week, but still early.
So we’re not too far from Steamtown now, i’m in the worst part of the training, and life is making it more difficult for me to get through, but I know it’ll help me get through the races when I need it, these are the things that build character and stamina… get through this crap and the race is easy.
I’ve also been looking at the local race calendar, and have found a labor day 5K that I will probably run … I enjoy running holiday races for some reason, and I don’t expect this to be a big turnout or anything, but hopefully it will motivate me for the marathons more. I also looked up my normal fall races outside of the marathons, and I can make both the James C. Burns 3 miler and the Fall trail run because they are on weekends when I don’t have to teach … excellent! They’ll be rough because i’ll be in the midst of the final training plan for the Harrisburg marathon on 11/11, but i’ll still get them in.
Well, off to getting myself well for the long weekend ahead …. pray that my sinuses decide to cooperate.. 🙂
