I got out this morning and had what I would consider the best run i’ve had in a few days after donating double red blood cells the other day. I managed to get 8 miles in, at the same pace that I completed it at last Wednesday (within around 30 seconds) with no real fatigue more than what would be expected. It may have been the regime i’ve been following to force the creation of red blood cells, and it could also be that it was 15 degrees cooler out than it was all weekend. It was actually quite cool (with a north wind), and refreshing .. not sure what did it, but i’m not going to celebrate too soon. We’ll see who we feel tomorrow after our run …
As I mentioned yesterday, I find myself cheering my body on to pump the oxygen to my muscles that need it (silly, isn’t it?) At one point I found myself singing the song “Pump Your Blood” from the 80’s sitcom Happy Days .. in case you don’t remember the song:
Better yet, here is the actual clip from the sitcom, its a classic …
Anyway, I’m doing what I need to so I can get my runs in, and if that works, we’ll do it. I find that I’m also not as sore as I had been in previous days, i think I really beat myself up on Saturday, which is why I was so sore, hopefully the worst is behind me. My speed workout on Thursday should be interesting .. i wonder how my body will react, guess we’ll see.
