I wrote a few days back that I was deciding whether to add the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon to my fall race schedule, well, I decided to do it. I thought about the lag time between the first and second marathons in the fall … the first being mid september, the last being later in November.. it seemed to fit right smack in the middle of the two..

I read that there were some challenges last year in the race reviews, but overall its a nice race. It actually gives a little more challenge than the other two races, which are mainly flat or downhill, this actually has some hills. Its a good replacement race for Steamtown, which i’ve done 3 years in a row now and just has lost its originality for me. I think the first time you do it, its a great experience (remember, it was my first marathon), but then the thrill wears off…

Regardless, it’ll be a bit of a change since this race is on a Saturday, not a Sunday .. i’m not sure i’ve ever run a long race on a Saturday morning, it’ll be different. That means we’ll head down Friday to the expo at the M&T stadium and leave after the race Saturday. Maybe we’ll get some time to site-see as well while we’re there.

Just finished up my 6 mile speed workout … did 6x800m at 3:35/800m with an 800m in between. I was good up until the end when I started to die out, but I pushed it. Next week we’ll add another mile since we’ve been doing this distance for a few weeks, we’ll start to get out of ‘distance’ phase and into the ‘speed’ phase, hold on!
