I’ve thankfully made a return to running .. well, I guess I should say its more like jogging at this point, but its still getting back on the road. I took off both Monday and Tuesday, and then headed out for an EASY 3 miles on Wednesday, really more like walking and then jogging, then walking and so on just to test how things felt. Today I got in 8.5 easy miles (again, more like jogging, it took me an 1 hour 25 minutes to complete it (so about a 10 minute mile), but again, I got out.
I got an adjustment today from a chiropractor (which is a whole different story for another day, just don’t have time tonight), and expect to continue to get them over the next couple weeks. I’m not feeling any pain necessarily, just a lot of soreness .. I can tell the difference between the two and ever since I got back up and on it again by jogging, its started to feel even better .. so I think its the right move.
The hope is that I can get in a longer run on Saturday, hopefully near a 20 miler depending on how things feel. I’m working now on revising my training schedule for the Philly marathon which is just a few weeks away .. My goal right now is to get through the runs without pain, regardless of the pace. I’m not so much concerned about my time, just about finishing (I have too much money invested in these races if you know what I mean). If I steer clear of the high mileage and fast times, I should be okay, I just have to stay focused… I want to continue to work to get my speed back, but its really not my primary focus ..
I’ll probably head out for new shoes this weekend, as that can only help to improve my back condition .. the other good thing is that the weather is finally cooperating. It will probably rain on Saturday, but it won’t be in the 30’s but in the low 50’s .. BIG DIFFERENCE!
Longer post coming this weekend, just real busy right now … but glad to be running again!
