2 days into training

Formal training started yesterday, and I had my first actual training run today (although I trained fairly similar last week). I got in 8 miles with 10x100m strides, and it felt pretty good. My back was awful sore yesterday, but didn’t hurt except for when I stretched it, I got a frightening pain, but it went away. I only did some elliptical work yesterday, so I took it easy. I will cross-train again tomorrow, only because I won’t be able to do anything on Friday and I’m going out for our celebratory “XMAS LUNCH” with the guys tomorrow, i’ll need to work off the extra calories, then its back for a 9 mile GA run on Thursday. The long run this week will be 13 miles, i’m not sure what course i’m going to take. I guess it depends on the weather actually, they keep bouncing the forecast from rain, to nice, to chilly to comfortable, who knows!

I’m anticipating having to modify the way I work out, which I hope will not affect my training at all. There is the possibility that I will be moving employers in the next few weeks. I wrote back in September that the company I work for was sold and that my future was uncertain, well, it seems that another place is interested in me, I interviewed twice there and they seem to like me. I’ll have to run in the mornings before work, either outside here at home, or at a gym i’ll have to join, but i’ll make it work. I definitely do not want to stop running, I just have to make adjustments, so we’ll have to see.

This week is tough as far as my diet is concerned, I had my department Christmas party on Monday, and actually had a drink or two, and got silly. I also ate like a pig. I tried not to, but I did, its tough when you have people all over and good food. Thats okay though, because i’ll work off the calories.

We’ll get through this week, I guarantee it. I just hope I don’t add too many more pounds!
